Bendigo Queer Film Festival

The BQFF provides cultural and artistic opportunities to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer people living in Central Victoria, AU.

The Bendigo Queer Film Festival has been in operation since 2004. From its small beginnings it has blossomed to become the only queer film festival in regional Victoria and one of only three queer film festivals to be held in a regional Australian city. In its inaugural year the 2004 Bendigo Queer Film Festival achieved an overall attendance exceeding 300 people from all over Victoria and interstate. In subsequent years the patronage has steadily increased as more people become aware of the annual event.

The Bendigo Queer Film Festival has provided cultural and artistic opportunities for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people living in Central Victoria and those who visit the region.

Research has proven that people in rural communities, are more likely to suffer isolation, depression, self harm and suicide. The Bendigo Queer Film Festival has enabled lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people, their families and friends to become connected to a group and lessen the felling of isolation.
